How to Stay Motivated Every Day When You wake Up

by | Ideas

Jul 27, 2022

Living and going on to achieve your dreams requires a lot of motivation. And staying motivated is an active process. You have to find ways to motivate yourself every day when you wake up, shrug the past failures off, and go into the morning ready to face everything life throws at you.

Sounds too hard? It really isn’t. This is how to stay motivated all day:

1. Sleep on Time

Your mind and your body need rest. They work together, after all. If your body isn’t rested, your mind will be stressed as well. This is why sleep is quite important for you to stay motivated.

An adult requires at least 8 hours of quality sleep. Do yourself a favor, and sleep for this long.

You may have trouble sleeping if you are anxious. So, try not to let anxiety bear you down. You may also have the same trouble when you eat certain foods.

Some foods can reduce the quality of sleep you get. So, if you are yearning for a day where you are at your best, it is advisable you stay away from these in the hours before bedtime.

2. Accomplish the First Task of the Day

The truth is, winning is more psychological than we think it is. It doesn’t matter whether the win is big or not. As long as we are able to accomplish a task, our brains process this as a win and release feel-good hormones such as dopamine

This feeling of being rewarded goes a long way to motivating us. Because we tell ourselves, even though subconsciously: “I have been able to drag myself to accomplish a task this early. I can go on to accomplish more.”

You decide what your first task is. I choose to lay on my bed. I used to have a lot of trouble getting out of bed. And when I finally did, I’ll just get right into the bathroom, and before I knew it, I would be feeling down and unmotivated.

It changed when I made a habit of dressing my bed the moment I woke.

What is it for you? If you are writing a book, how about you write 100 words down before getting right into the day?

3. Believe in Yourself: Have a Sense of Self-worth

In addition to accomplishing the day’s first task, another goal is to believe in yourself. Being motivated is simply just believing in yourself enough to see through the blockades. This comes easy when you care for yourself and have a sense of self-worth.

4. Breakfast

You don’t have to skip breakfast. If you are going to have a good day, and go on to do stuff you love, eat breakfast.

Your meals can contain a lot of healthy carbs. Cereals, whole bread, and maybe even whole rice is fine.

Your body needs a lot of energy, especially for mental activity, at the start of the day. What breakfasts do is give you the first energy pump of the day. Deny your body this, and you might go into the day feeling weak-willed and unmotivated.

5. Routines

When you have accomplished your first task for the day, it is time to get into your routines. A lot of people view routines in a bad light. They say it makes a person’s life mechanical, like living a script. On the surface, this appears true. But deep down, the truth is, we all need some routines to give us a sense of direction.

We really can’t do anything we want whenever we want to do it—that’ll only ensure that we lose track of ourselves and waste a lot of time.

Routines help us manage time and may also help us feel motivated each day when we wake up.

Make your routines simple yet fun. They could be anything: running around the house every day, doing some squats, maybe even writing yourself a note.

6. New Day, New Wins

One of the worst things you can do to yourself is “drag past failures” into your present. Do not dwell on “the things behind,” but look forward to “the things ahead.”

The Zen (the enlightened) believe in the power of now. To stay motivated each day when you wake up, you should believe this too.

Everything you are feeling happens now.

You were not reading this article yesterday. You are reading it now.

You should not let anything drag you behind. Live now. Tell yourself that you will go on to win. You are strong and can do just enough.

7. Give Your all to Tasks

To stay motivated when you wake up every day, you must be ready to give your best. Life is a full-fledged task. You don’t give half into it; you give all. For this reason, you have to do things you love or find a way to do things you love.

While it may sometimes be tempting, try not to complain. Your brain listens to you. When you complain about stuff, you may not notice it, but you build mental resistance against that thing.

For example, if you are having a bad day at work, it is best you don’t voice it. Just find a way to ‘accept’ that a bad day comes. It does not tell anything about you. They’re just bad days.

8. Bad Days Work for You

Look at it this way: muscles grow when pressure and resistance are applied to them. In that way, character, virtue, and strength grow when you face resistance.

Have a co-worker who steps on your toes? Don’t let that discourage you from going out there and giving your best.

9. Make Someone Smile

You will feel a rush of energy when you put a smile on someone’s face.

The truth is, so many of us want to be able to go out there and help people. Many times, it is what keeps us going and can be that one thing that motivates us.

If you feel motivated whenever you help someone, then help as many people as you can. Have a goal to make at least one person smile every day.

Call someone you haven’t called in a while. Pay a visit to family. Give someone a gift.

10. Smile

When you give someone a beaming smile, how do they respond? Most likely, they smile back. It doesn’t matter where a smile comes from, whether from friends or a total stranger; they are infectious and evoke good feelings. You can stay motivated every day when you wake up by smiling.
