A number of guys seem to really appreciate it. And others don’t. Others don’t really know what to choose. Is it a great idea? Is it not? Can you use Vaseline as lube? Keep reading.
Yes, You Can, Because
Yes, you can consider Vaseline as lube if you are really going to, but only because:
1. It lasts longer
If you’re looking for something that doesn’t really wear away fast, then you can use Vaseline. Vaseline is way thicker than other lubes, and one dab is usually able to take you through the entire sex.
This is what a lot of people agree on.

We assumed this was only peculiar to guys and so decided to ask a couple of women what they thought of Vaseline as a lube option. They, too, described something similar, using Vaseline as one of those lube options that has good staying power.
“Surprisingly,” Sito said, “It lasts a lot longer than others. You can use it if you really have to, that is to say if you can deal with the other less comfortable parts of using VaselineVaseline as lube.”
2. It is a better option for masturbation
Vaseline is a better option for masturbation by far. Masturbation is very different from sex when it comes to grip strength. The hands grip better than the vagina. This means there is going to be more friction with the hands. And since Vaseline is so thick, it is usually able to take the friction away.
Also, during masturbation, Vaseline may make a person feel less sensitive down there and make them last longer without coming. The effect can also be perceived during sex. But the point remains that in times of vigorous sex and other forms of sexual activity where there should be a lot of friction, Vaseline may be better than other lube options.

3. Vaseline can help you last longer
I discovered this on my own a long time ago. I was trying out some lubes myself, experimenting with their differences. When I found that Vaseline was able to make me last longer than most other lubes.
I told a couple of friends about my findings and asked that they try using Vaseline for a while and record any changes they noticed in bed. To my surprise, most of them noticed that sex began to feel a certain way. It lasted longer!
My theory, as I have already mentioned, is that Vaseline is a lot thicker than any other lubes and, as such, can make one feel less sensitive down there. And this can, in turn, make one last longer.
4. It doesn’t hurt
Yeah, as long as a lubricant does not cause pain or injury, then one cannot just toss it to the sides. When choosing a good lubricant, you really do have to factor in pain. Lubricants that allow you to feel pain are not good options. Lubricants that make you feel irritated, too.
So, as long as you aren’t feeling pain or hurt and you aren’t allergic to the material, you can go ahead and use Vaseline as lube.
No, You Shouldn’t
You shouldn’t use Vaseline as lube because:
1. It is Messy
The truth is, it is messy. An oil so heavy should not really make it to your bedroom if you are someone who has explorative sex. Explorative sex is more or less sex whose form changes from time to time. You aren’t just stuck in one position. There are changes. One minute you are in one position and the next your partner is giving you a blow job.
Don’t use Vaseline in these circumstances.

2. It is laborious to wash off
Another reason why you should consider using something else as lube instead of Vaseline is that Vaseline is so thick that washing it off becomes a problem.
Good lube should be easy to wash off. This is why water-based lubes are a good option most of the time. All you have to do with those ones is have some tap water running and a little soap. Boom, they’re gone.
With Vaseline, seeing that petroleum jelly is hydrophobic, you just have to keep washing and washing. It gets annoying along the line. And not just for you. For your partner, too.
3. It’s not very hygienic
Vaseline as a lube may not be as hygienic as you might think. Vaseline is very thick and is able to gather bacteria to itself.
A recent study has shown that women who use Vaseline as lube were two times more likely to get bacterial vaginosis than women who did not.
This makes Vaseline such a big no. Remember that your first question when choosing a lubricant should be: does this affect my health? If yes, then you should discard it. It is not good for you.
If you notice any irritation during or after using Vaseline as lube, then don’t use it again.

4.Vaseline weakens condoms
You should know that Vaseline weakens condoms. As do most oil-based lubricants. They wear the material of the condoms down until, eventually, breakage happens. This makes it a bad option for people who are using condoms as their primary contraceptive practice.
If you are seeking a lubricant that can be used even with a condom, then your options include an array of water basedlubricants.
Or maybe you may just change your condoms.
Summary
Vaseline doesn’t exactly make for a good lubricant option. It is too thick.
